Star Trek is a science fiction series that aired on NBC from 1966 to 1969. The show later acquired the retronym of Star Trek: The Original Series to distinguish the show within the media franchise that it began. The show became a cult classic in syndication during the 1970s, leading to additional television series, movies, books and more.

The now world-reknowned series Star Trek follows the crew of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise as it completes its missions in space in the 23rd century. Captain James T. Kirk - along with half human/half Vulcan science officer Spock, ship Dr. Bones McCoy, Ensign Pavel Chekov, communications officer Lt. Nyota Uhura, helmsman Lt. Hikaru Zulu and chief engineer Lt. Cmdr. Scotty Scott - confront strange alien races, friendly and hostile alike, as they explore unknown worlds. Their mission is to explore strange new worlds, to seek new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
